The handles are squeezed together and the plunger (punch) creates a hole in the rubber dam material. It is typically designed to create various hole sizes thanks to the cutting disc that rotates through a range of 6 hole sizes, providing the correct opening for the smallest anterior tooth to the largest molar.The punch must always be centered in the cutting hole to achieve a clean cut.
